Dun Factor

BROK is a Norwegian Fjord stallion owned by Heidi McCarty of Barred-M-Ranch in Texas.  Check out the fancy racing stripes on his legs.

These pages will show some of the horses registered in the DUN FACTOR section of the Brindle & Striped Equine International registry.  Dun factor markings include a dark face mask, cobwebbing of the face and ears, leg barring, dorsal stripe, herringbone pattern radiating from the dorsal stripe, parallel markings of the dorsal stripe, and shoulder stripe or shoulder patch. These markings occur on buckskin, dun, red dun and grulla equine. The registry does not discriminate against paints or appaloosas with these patterns, nor does it discriminate against donkeys, mules, or ponies.

Isha is another Norwegian Fjord owned by Heidi McCarty.

Izzy A Ten is a red dun quarter horse gelding with both heavy dun factor markings and brindle (see BRINDLE PHOTO page).  He has a herringbone pattern radiating from his dorsal stripe.  See his feature on the AWARDS page as well.  Izzy is owned by Janine Caldwell of Ridgefield, Washington.

This red dun foal, owned by El Cascabel in the 70's, shows heavy dun factor markings on the crest and shoulders.
